HOOS MAKING LASTING IMPACTS

HOOS MAKING LASTING IMPACTS

The Department of Safety & Security’s (DSS) Awards Ceremony is one I look forward to each year. It’s so important that we take the time to slow down and step out of constant “response mode.” It’s especially important to recognize our DSS members and the exceptional work they do every day, on and off Grounds. Congratulations and thank you to this year’s 21 award recipients, including DSS employees and Facilities Management.

UVA Pres Jim Ryan standing on steps with HR Career Navigation Team
Congratulations to the winners of this year’s “Hoos Making an Impact” program! HR’s Career Navigation Team (pictured) is most deserving for their “Career Champions” project. I’m also excited to see the results of the Art@Work project and hope we can take advantage of it right here at O’Neil Hall in the near future.

This is the third year that the Staff Senate, in partnership with the President’s Office, seeks out innovative ideas that will help streamline or improve a process at UVA. “Hoos Making an Impact” is designed to cultivate staff success across Grounds in alignment with the University’s 2030 Strategic Plan. Winning submissions receive funding for implementation and lunch with leadership. I appreciate all of the staff members who dedicated their time and effort to presenting a project for consideration.
